about

After making a powerful debut on clipp.art with acidic belter “White Satin”, Pina Tesla drops her pulse racing “Lullabies for The Clubs” EP. For those that find comfort in the distorted thump of a heavy kick, “Lullaby” opens proceeding full bore. A rolling bass meets dreamy soft melodic lo-fi synth, and held together by driving hi-hats. Unlike the mindless heft of a lot of peak time techno, there’s something intimate, dare I say “emotionally raw” about Lullaby. A familiarity you can’t put your finger on until you realise it because you’ve been listening to this track on repeat as you headed to the warehouse last weekend. It's belting, but in a soothe the soul kinda way. And very repeat playable. “White Satin” continues to drive your hard drive, hard, and fits the club immediately with a classic distorted TB-303 as lead (in place of the typical yet thunderous & squelchy bass-line the machine is best known for). Tesla dials up the rave while still adding more hints of.. feeling? It’s a siren call for banging out and that makes you dream of the club. “Aquatix” rounds out the event with a clang, banging it out in an almost ghetto-tek stylee. It’s a deeper trip - 1 part 4/4 techno, 1 part euphoric pads, simple chords and ends in dark breakbeats.

But why put words to this when Pina herself provides the breakdown:
''As in every release, my main goal is to make the listeners feel like they are in a different world in each track, and to dance as much as possible while doing this” says the Istanbul based producer. “Especially for this EP, I wanted to record a few songs in high bpm club music, which is sometimes with 4/4 rhythms, breakbeats, and sometimes with a lullaby-like atmosphere, as closest to my style”.
