Welcome to the future. Our first mid length player for the year comes from Vitaliy Bogachev aka Cypher Sanctuary. Already a hot property in Moscow’s deep underground electronic music scene, having used autonomous artificial neural networks in the creation of his debut release on his own SHIFR Records - a piece motivating the theoretical-philosophical debate about the identifying specifics of the creation & enjoyment of art - Cypher Sanctuary now bursts out of the chest of our own clipp.art imprint in the year of our lord 2020. Having a background in IT, it may not come as a surprise that Vitaliy would mix field recordings and live percussion/drums with machine learning for his own dimension of dark wave DIY, but here experimentation and freedom work in a parallel evolutionary network to sincerity and natural vibrations - ultimately giving the music a hyper-stylized techno aura. From the relentless thud & diode squelches of Red Ball Burn to icy three-four drifts of Star City Angel & Dark Shadow Creep, the artificial organic-fueled thrillride of title track Warrior Way and The Tree, to off kilter/full tilt coda of King Heart which introduces Bogachev’s own cosmic guitar, piano and vocal work least where you’d expect it, this is music enjoyed best bathed in the neon glow of a windowless PC room or 3am pleasure arcade. Basically “The Matrix”. We adore the DIY spirit that Russian artists proudly represent and which soars on Warrior Way. Молодец!
