about

After delivering a knockout set on last year's Sounds like a Good Mixtape series, Brazillian DJ & music producer Agrabah comes full circle on clipp.art with an EP of pop-lockin’ delights. Known for playing a combo of Breaks, Acid, Disco and House Music Variations (as well as creating some hot hot edits), the duo of tracks from Agrabah here (titled Break Beach and Break Town) finds the Curitiba based artist jump-cut between tastes with her smooth blends & pure energy. From pulsating schizo disco to bumpin’ bassline, this is sandy music for steamy night cruising. Picture this: it’s Summer and you’re new in town. You don’t know how you got here or why you’re dressed so colourfully but the evening is hot and you discover yourself on the main strip. The street is ablaze with neon and youth - teens are literally dripping out of convertibles, and the vibe is electric. You follow the crowd into the post-Grease era cafe/arcade/night-spot and lock eyes with a hot multi-racial boy/girl grinding itself amongst a throng of horny make-up heavy dancers. Headbands and velcro are everywhere. It’s pumping so of course you’re drawn to the neck-snapping beats thrusting out of un-seen speakers and the sound is super loud but you can still hold a conversation. There isn’t a portable phone to be seen anywhere. You feel out of time, but strangely “at home”. You lock eyes with the hot dancefloor thing and.. wait. Hold on. This isn’t real, it’s just the start of that episode of Black Mirror titled San Junipero. The point is - we can easily picture the sounds of Agrabah’s Break Beach belting out of the speakers in that scene. I guess we could have used any scene from the movie Break Dance. Or it’s sequel Electric Boogaloo.
You get the point. Stay rocksteady, people.
